About

I was born and raised in Brooklyn, so it felt a little strange to pack up my entire life and leave New York for New Brunswick, New Jersey to go to school for acting. It just didn't seem like this weird little town on a river would be the center of culture and art in the world. But I was very quickly proven wrong by everything and everyone at Mason Gross School of the Arts and the work that I was involved in there. I was immersed in ideas and experiences I had never had before, I made friends that I am certain will be with me for the rest of my life, and I honed a set of skills that I'm proud to wield as I continue into the larger artistic world. And now I'm proud to be back in New York making my own life as an artist, and trying to keep my ever hungry soul fed with as much theater, film, art, science, music and good company I can get my hands on.

Also literal food, that's always good too.

Theater

Henry IV Part 1 by William Shakespeare, directed by Rosa Joshi at The Folger Shakespeare Library (September - October 2019)

Prince Hal spends his days carousing in seedy taverns with criminals and lowly commoners, much to the dismay of his father, King Henry IV. Winding from the Boar's Head Tavern to the shadows of Gad’s Hill, Hal’s path to the throne may be unusual, but it eventually leads him to the one place where questions of honor and reputation come to a head: the battlefield.

Director Rosa Joshi and cast members talk about Shakespeare's epic coming-of-age tale 1 HENRY IV, on stage at Folger Theatre in Washington, DC.

Against the Hillside by Sylvia Khoury, directed by William Carden at Ensemble Studio Theatre (february 2018)

With the constant buzz of American drones above the Pakistani countryside, a young woman fears for the safety and sanity of her family. Thousands of miles away, the drone pilot in Nevada tasked with watching her family becomes increasingly removed from his own life. Playwright Sylvia Khoury examines the cost of wars fought at distance on both the observer and the observed.

Jazz by Nambi E. Kelly, directed by Kwame Kwei-Armah at Baltimore Center Stage (May-June 2017)

In Morrison’s exhilarating novel, Joe and Violet move from the Virginia countryside to Harlem at the turn of the century, young and in love. Twenty years later, Joe’s interactions with a young woman set off a series of violent events and unforgivable acts. Peeling back layers and alternating perspectives expose ultimately sympathetic characters, who—like the growing New York neighborhood and the winding woods of their youth—reveal their own rhythms.

Composer Kathryn Bostic, Director Kwame Kwei-Armah, Choreographer Paloma McGregor and Dramaturg Arminda Thomas discuss the journey of bringing Toni Morrison's novel to the stage for the world premiere of "Jazz." Music by Kathryn Bostic.
